Operation Chimera

Hi guys,

This is a write up on Operation Chimera that happened on 27th Feb, 2011. http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150191581014951&id=72429483690

Attended by around 60 players, it was the first true mission driven, MilSim (military simulation) game in Malaysia. Both factions were led by commanders who had access to UAVs, Artillery strikes and the ability to purchase other special powers at the black market.

The game as it played out was an eye-opener, the caliber of players who participated at this event were certainly of a higher level than the run-of-the-mill players who show up with speedball markers and then spray at anything that moves, be it human, tree or bush. Players were assigned to squads and took up roles as the squad's medic, squad leader, mg gunner or rifleman and they took their roles seriously, they fought organically as a squad and there were no Rambos running willy nilly all over the place.

Operation Chimera ran for a total of 3hrs 45mins and ended with a dramatic counterattack by the Osiris International faction recapturing their base from the Defense Science Industries faction with 2mins to spare.

Contrary to popular belief, you DON'T have to be in or have a team to participate in such games, paintballers are generally friendly folks and will welcome friendly players. In fact, there were several walk-on players who came on that day including 2 Singaporeans. All were made welcomed and none were sent on suicide missions or treated as canon fodder :)
